This monday it's time for track named "Night Vision" from legendary Guru's album "Jazzmatazz Vol.3, Streetsoul" (2000) featuring Isaac Hayes. Born in the Boston neighborhood of Roxbury, Guru (Keith Elam) is known for delivering complex lyrics in a unique monotone style. Members of the hip-hop community consider him to be one of the pioneers of hiphop/jazz crossover. The name Guru is a backronym that stands for "Gifted Unlimited Rhymes Universal" and the less often used "God is Universal, he is the Ruler Universal". Besides Gang Starr, his Jazzmatazz and solo albums, Guru has collaborated with countless artists since the early 90s. Not only in hiphop, but also with artists from various genres such as pop, electronica/dance, acid jazz and even brass bands.
"Well now don't you tell me to smile You stick around I'll make it worth your while Got numbers beyond what you can dial Maybe it's because I'm so versatile..."
Classical song "Intergalactic" by New York based rap group Beastie Boys (Mike D, MCA & Ad-Rock). Beastie Boys began as a hardcore punk group in 1979, appeared on the compilation cassette New York Thrash with Riot Fight and Beastie, and released their debut EP in 1982. The group is well-known for its eclecticism, jocular and flippant attitude toward interviews and interviewers, obscure cultural references and kitschy lyrics, and for performing in outlandish matching suits. They are one of the longest lived hip-hop acts worldwide and continue to enjoy commercial and critical success in 2010, more than 25 years after the release of their debut album.
