Funkdoobiest is an American rap group from Los Angeles, California. The original members are Son Doobie (Jason Vasquez), DJ Ralph M (Ralph Medrano), and Tomahawk Funk (Tyrone Pacheco). The latter left after their second album. Their first two albums were mainly produced by Cypress Hill's DJ Muggs. Their third album, The Troubleshooters, included production by Ralph M and DJ Rectangle. Whereas the other albums were clearly hardcore rap in the vein of Cypress Hill and other Soul Assassins members, The Troubleshooters was more versatile. DJ Muggs was the group's mentor and inspiration. The group is known for their sexually explicit song "Superhoes" about the perverted secret identities of superheroes. Most of their other songs have to do with sex, and Son Doobie proclaimed himself the porno king. They also had their own X-rated club in Los Angeles. Funkdoobiest have never cared for censorship, and have released several hit singles such as, "XXX Funk" about controversial topics such as pornography. Their fourth album The Golden B-Boys was released in 2009. This album was produced and arranged by DJ Ralph M for B-Boy Beats LLC. The cover art was done by Galo "MAKE" Canote.

Doggumentary (previously titled Doggumentary Music and Doggystyle 2: Tha Doggumentary) is the upcoming 11th studio album by American rapper Snoop Dogg. The album is scheduled to be released on March 29, 2011. Snoop Dogg first announced that he was working on a sequel to his 1993 debut album Doggystyle during a studio session with Hip hop producer and rapper Swizz Beatz the two stated they knocked out eighteen tracks and Snoop ended the video out saying he gave him some gangsta tracks, some R&B tracks and some Hip Hop tracks. Snoop Dogg called off plans to release the sequel to his classic debut Doggystyle, instead opting for the title Doggumentary Music for his 11th studio album, set for release in March 2011 on Priority Records and EMI Records. "I have been in the game for so long and still have the same passion I did when I first started. I want my fans to ride with me on this one and know that I am so focused on bringing good music to them," explains the veteran MC. "It's called Doggumentary Music because this is my life and I want to share my music, and my process of making it, with the fans."

Psycho Realm is a Mexican American supergroup started in 1989 by brothers Sick Jacken (Joaquin Gonzalez) and Big Duke (Gustavo Gonzalez) from the Downtown, Pico-Union area of Los Angeles. The first recorded Psycho Realm song, "Scandalous", was released on the soundtrack of the film Mi Vida Loca in 1994. That same year B-Real of the rap group Cypress Hill saw Psycho Realm performing at Olvera Street for an End Barrio Warfare concert. Their performance inspired B-Real to the point that he wanted to join the group. With this time period being the height of Cypress Hill’s career anything Cypress Hill related would get major publicity. In 1997 Sony released the first Psycho Realm album, labeled as an addition to the Cypress Hill Family by the sticker placed on the CD case. Due to conflicts with the record label the Gonzalez brothers were dropped from Sony as Jacken explains, "the machine was just trying to censor me / Didn't do it for Sony so they ended up releasing me / Independent, no longer locked down for an infinity / So my vicinity stays true to my identity." The brothers then went on to form Sick Symphonies, their own record label, which lacked the big budget for promotion and distribution in chain stores along with group member B-Real, who was stuck on his contract with Sony for Cypress Hill.

La Coka Nostra (short LCN) is an American hip hop group composed of Everlast, DJ Lethal, Danny Boy, Ill Bill and Slaine. Founded in late 2005 with no intention to record an album, La Coka Nostra was more a loose collective of artists connected through Danny Boy than a group. Having taken time off from rap after the break-up of House of Pain, Danny Boy took to working in video production and fashion as well as mentoring other artists. He met Slaine in Boston and, impressed with his writing, brought him to L.A. to record some tracks. Eventually it turned into more of a group effort including the former members of House of Pain and Ill Bill, as well as associates from Psycho Realm, Special Teamz and others. It was not until early 2006 that the current line up solidified, plans to release an album were first voiced later the same year. In late 2008 the group signed to Suburban Noize Records and released the long delayed debut album A Brand You Can Trust on July 14, 2009. The album took so long to complete due to Danny Boy's refusal to have the members collaborate via e-mail; instead, he would gather everyone at the studio. This took time due to the recording of Ill Bill and Everlast's solo albums as well as various tours and other commitments. A Brand You Can Trust features 15 tracks and guest spots from Snoop Dogg, Bun B, Sick Jacken, B-Real, Sen Dog, Immortal Technique, Big Left and Q-Unique. Though similar stylistically to the group's prior online releases, it features songs grounded more in reality. Some subjects touched upon include politics, death, drug addiction, raising a child and terrorism.

Dilated Peoples is a hip hop group from California. The group achieved notability in the underground hip hop community [citation needed], although they have had little mainstream success in the US, with the exception of the song "This Way," a 2004 collaboration with Kanye West. It reached the Top 40 of the UK Singles Chart with two tracks, "This Way" and "Worst Comes to Worst." Their members include DJ Babu (producer/DJ), Evidence (emcee-producer) and Rakaa Iriscience (emcee)

DJ Mark Luv was the group's first DJ, followed by producer J-Swift and then J Dilla. The group is best known for the hit singles "Drop", "Passin' Me By" and "Runnin'", as well as their first album, Bizarre Ride II the Pharcyde. "Drop" is a single by The Pharcyde, released in 1995 as the first single for the group's second album, Labcabincalifornia. The single contains a vocal sample of the Beastie Boys song "The New Style", using the titular "mmm..... drop" line delivered during a drop to create its hook. The music video for "Drop" was directed by Spike Jonze and filmed in Los Angeles. The video features footage of the group performing the song backwards, replayed backwards, which when combined with the chopped, spacey beat of the song gives the video a slight surrealistic quality. The Beastie Boys make a brief cameo, no doubt related to Ad Rock's vocal contribution to the song.

"To Live & Die in L.A." is a single by rapper 2Pac (who at the time went by the name Makaveli) from his album The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory. The song samples "Do Me, Baby", a song by Prince from the early '80s. It starts with an interview originally performed on KKBT's Street Science program; The host asks a man what he thinks of 2Pac's new album and he responds by saying he loves it. He then expresses that his music heightens the East/West Coast Feud, most likely referring to 2Pac's personal attack song toward The Notorious B.I.G., Hit 'Em Up. The song then starts as 2Pac reflects on his life, with Val Young singing the chorus. The song peaked at #10 on the UK Singles chart. It is unknown, however, if the song did peak at #10 on the U.S. Rap chart. It was later included on 2Pac's Greatest Hits album in 1998. This video was filmed a month before Tupac's death and is one of the last videos the rapper filmed. The video for this song features Tupac at various locales around the Los Angeles area, mostly in South Central. Most notable is the Baldwin Hills-Crenshaw Plaza which was used as a major film location. Tupac can be seen rolling up to the mall in his Jaguar convertible, and walking inside. He is also seen singing with a group of teenagers dancing around him. The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory is the fifth and final studio album by Tupac Shakur, under the new stage name Makaveli, finished before his death and the first to be released after his death. The album was completely finished in a total of seven days during the month of August 1996. The lyrics were written and recorded in only three days and mixing took an additional four days. These are among the very last songs he recorded before his fatal shooting on September 7, 1996. Although The Don Killuminati: The 7 Day Theory was released almost two months after his death, on November 5, 1996, it is not a true posthumous album in the way that the later 2Pac albums are since he completed the album before his death.

Michael Perretta, better known as Evidence (born December 10, 1976 in Los Angeles, California), is an American hip hop artist, producer, and member of the rap group Dilated Peoples. Evidence is a native of Venice in Los Angeles, California and was born to an Italian father and a Russian-American mother. Before becoming a rapper and producer, Evidence was a graffiti artist. Evidence's affinity for hip-hop and the culture began in the early eighties, with his parents' divorce and subsequent move from the affluent city of Santa Monica to neighboring Venice Beach. By the early 1990s, and in addition to becoming a graffiti artist, painting hip hop inspired hieroglyphics under the name "VANE," a move next door to QD3, son of producer Quincy Jones, Evidence discovered his true calling. QD3, an accomplished West Coast producer, ("To Live and Die in L.A."- Tupac, "Ghetto Bird"- Ice Cube, "I Got the Knack"- Everlast) became one of Evidence's major influences in his pursuit to create music. "At night I would hear a loud thumping coming from the back yard next door and it wouldn't stop until early in the morning” says Evidence recalling those early days. “I could tell that they weren't just playing music but sounded like music was being created."

The Game was born Jayceon Terrell Taylor in Los Angeles, California to Lynette Baker of African-American descent and George Taylor, Jr. of African- American and Mexican descent. He grew up in Compton, California in a primarily Crip gang neighborhood known as Santana Blocc, although he grew up to become a member of the Bloods. In 2004 Dr Dre was passed Game's demo CD by D-Mack and been suitably impressed. According to Aftermath A&R Angelo Sanders in an interview with HitQuarters, when Dre then met him, "[He] saw the swagger in him and thought he could do something with him." Game was signed to Aftermath Entertainment only a week later through a joint deal with 50 Cent's G-Unit Records. It was confirmed in May 2009 that Game began working on a new album, The R.E.D. Album, with Timbaland and Drumma Boy on the album. He released the first single from the album, the Pharrell produced "It Must Be Me" on April 14, 2010.
