Recording sessions for the album took place during 2010 to 2011. No Limit Top Dogg is Snoop Dogg's fourth studio album and his second on No Limit Records, and his first on his own label Doggystyle Records. It was released May 11, 1999 and features the hit single "Bitch Please" featuring Xzibit and Nate Dogg, produced by Dr. Dre. The album's 187,400 debut week sales made it jump to #2 on the Billboard album charts, only second to Ricky Martin's 1999 self-titled album with huge first week sales of over 661,000 copies. Though it was Snoop Dogg's first album to not debut at #1 and have strong album sales for the first week (probably due to the very anticipated Ricky Martin sales rush), it eventually sold 1,503,865 copies in 1999. It did top the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums though.

The album is scheduled to be released on March 29, 2011. Snoop Dogg first announced that he was working on a sequel to his 1993 debut album Doggystyle during a studio session with Hip hop producer and rapper Swizz Beatz the two stated they knocked out eighteen tracks and Snoop ended the video out saying he gave him some gangsta tracks, some R&B tracks and some Hip Hop tracks. Snoop Dogg called off plans to release the sequel to his classic debut Doggystyle, instead opting for the title Doggumentary Music for his 11th studio album, set for release in March 2011 on Priority Records and EMI Records. "I have been in the game for so long and still have the same passion I did when I first started. I want my fans to ride with me on this one and know that I am so focused on bringing good music to them," explains the veteran MC. "It's called Doggumentary Music because this is my life and I want to share my music, and my process of making it, with the fans."

N.W.A (Niggaz With Attitude) was an American hip hop group from Compton, California, widely considered one of the seminal acts of the gangsta rap sub-genre. Active from 1986 to 1991, the group endured controversy due to the explicit nature of their lyrics. They were subsequently banned from many mainstream U.S. radio stations and even at times prevented from touring - yet the group has still sold over 9 million units in the U.S. alone. Their debut album, Straight Outta Compton, marked the beginning of the new gangsta rap era as the production and the social commentary in their lyrics were revolutionary within the genre. Rolling Stone ranked N.W.A 83rd on their list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time". Although largely unknown at the group's inception, rappers Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E and MC Ren would all go on to be platinum-selling stars as solo artists. New Line Cinema reps announced to Entertainment Weekly's "Hollywood Insider Blog" that N.W.A's story is in development to become a theatrical release in 2012. According to IMDb, the script was researched and written by filmmaker S. Leigh Savidge and radio veteran Alan Wenkus, who worked closely with Eazy E's widow Tomica Wright. Producing the film will be Tomica Wright, Ice Cube, and Dr. Dre. "Chin Check" is a single by N.W.A. from the Next Friday soundtrack. The song was also released on The Best of N.W.A. - The Strength of Street Knowledge and as a bonus track on the N.W.A Greatest Hits album. Snoop Dogg is featured in the song in place of the deceased and former member Eazy-E. The song is remembered for being a "reunion song" for N.W.A, as it was the first song they performed together since their split and a tribute to Eazy's memory.
